The Murcian pilot Ana Carrasco will be the godmother of honor of the seventh edition of the VII Motorbike Concentration City of Torremolinos, one of the main dates of the national calendar for lovers of the two wheels to be held this weekend, from Friday 13 to Sunday, October 15

With his election, the Motoclub Komando Amimoto -organizer of the event- wants to recognize the sporting career of Carrasco, who on September 17 became the first woman to win a World Superbike Championship race – specifically in the Supersport 300 category -, disputed in the circuit of Portimão (Portuguese Algarve).

The Councilor for Cultural Promotion, Aida Blanes, and the chairman of Motoclub, David Cantos, have presented at the Torremolinos Conference Center, the new venue for the event, the prolegomena of the official program of this meeting of the world of two wheels that already appears among the most important national calls. In fact, of the 8,000 registered in the last edition, the organization calculates that they will go to close to 15,000 this year, coming from all over Spain and with a strong increase of participants from areas that have a wide range of this type of tests, of Castilla-León, Castilla-La Mancha, Portugal and other European countries.

Blanes has emphasized the “strong commitment” made by the City Council in its collaboration with the organization for its positive impact on the town. On the one hand, by placing the name of Torremolinos on the national calendar of the great biker events and, on the other, by its strategic effect in the fight against the tourist seasonality to be held in October, out of the high season. The councilor has called for participation in the event, which transcends even the world of two wheels.

Broad program

The concerts of Loquillo (Friday the 13th) and Celtas Cortos (Saturday 14th), become the complementary attraction to a program of activities that includes the celebration of a Motorcycle Show, exhibitions of the Málaga Moto School of Pilots and of ‘stunt’ by Emilio Zamora and Narcis Roca, talks-colloquium with the biker-adventurer Fernando García, better known as ‘El Búfalo’; musical animation by Dj’s, a foodtruck area; and the already traditional Mototouristic Route by Torremolinos, on Saturday 14 from 12’00 hours.

Blanes has praised that for the first time a woman is the godmother of the event. “For us, and for the Department of Equality, it is important that a woman is the benchmark of this edition in a world, that of the motorcycle, which is usually associated as quite masculine.

 

The pilot and godmother of the VII Motorbike Concentration ‘City of Torremolinos’, Ana Carrasco, has been “breaking barriers” since she was very young. Thus, she made her debut in the 2011 Spanish Championship at age 14, making history by becoming the first female to score in the CEV of 125 cubic centimeters. The following year, 2012, he achieved another unique feat in the history of Spanish motorcycling, with his sixth place on the grid, the highest obtained by a Spanish driver in the Spanish Championship.

Carrasco became the second Spaniard to compete in the Motorcycle World Championship, after the pioneer Elena Rosell, debuting on April 7, 2013 at the Qatar Grand Prix of Motorcycling. In her first year, she became the first Spanish driver to score points in a Motorcycle World Championship.

Among the novelties this year, highlights the extension of the event from two to three days and the change of scenery to the Palace of Congresses and Exhibitions of Torremolinos. The Motorcycle Show will gather this year to fifty companies that will show the main novelties of the sector.

The City Council collaborates in the organization with the Motomoub Komando Amimoto, which has set a price of 25 euros for the pack that includes attendance at the biker rally, tickets for the two concerts and T-shirts, a pin, Saturday lunch, drinks at the gastronomic area and throughout the route, as well as free access to the entire site, the Motorcycle Fair and the camping area. Tickets are also offered separately to attend only the concert of Loquillo, at a price of 20 euros, or Celtas Cortos, for ten euros.
